Royal Wimbledon Putting Competition RWGC has one of the largest and best putting greens of any golf club in the country which allows it to host this unique event. 32 golf societies compete annually for the Bunny Millard Putter. The preliminary rounds are held over 4 successive days. Each day, 8 schools, represented by a team of 4 "putters" compete on a round robin basis with the top two teams going through to the final the following week. Each society nominates the order (1 to 4) of its team. Then each member of the team plays an 18 hole putting match against his opposite number from each of the other seven schools and gets 2 points for a win and one for a half. The top two societies qualify for the final the following week. There are two added incentives:-
If you fancy yourself as a demon putter, contact Sam Smale and be prepared to demonstrate your ability at the Spring or Autumn meeting. Sam can be contacted through the fixtures page Page last updated on 26/04/2007 |
